  Company History

Sometimes Frustration Is The Mother Of Invention. As a professional cabinetmaker, Tad liked to get things done quick, effecient, and accurate. This in mind, he saw a major flaw on the job site. Installing hardware was a serious bottleneck to finishing the job. Since most jobs have more than one layout, making jigs or measuring each hole by hand was simply a waste of time. Tad tried using the available jigs on the market, only to find that they were very limited in use and difficult to operate. He still had to make plywood jigs to compliment the jigs he had purchased. Crazy, he thought.

After years of staying too late on the job installing hardware, he could no longer take it. So, in 1996 Tad began work on the True Position Drill Guide, a fully adjustable hardware jig. He set out to make a hardware tool that would be so versatile, he would never have to make another template. More so, he wanted it to be easy to use, fast, and well made. What he came up with was a simple T square design that truly hit the nail on the head.

Extensive testing proved that the tool was extremely durable and the accuracy was aboslutely top notch. Seeing the tool in action, fellow cabinetmakers found themselves utterly jealous. They saw Tad finish hardware in an entire kitchen in the time it took them to drill a few holes. With the confidence of conquering the hardware problem, the TP 1934, Precision Casewerk's first hardware jig, was released in 1997.

Soon after the TP 1934 release, Tad realized he was not alone his frustration. The tool was steadily selling and he quickly began work on an addition. This addition, the TP 1935 became a solution for installation line boring (someone always seems to forget to drill a few holes). It also doubled as a solution for small shops who cannot afford the space or cost of a line boring machine in the shop. Later the TP 1950 added some versatility by adding 6 extra sliding guides to the TP 1935. As hardware trends have shifted towards longer spaced pulls, the drill guides have sold even better. The 32mm spacing of the TP 1935 solved long hardware problems before it even was an issue (All hardware greater than 6 inches has a spacing of 32mm CC).

For over ten years now, the True Position brand has helped thousands of wood workers save time, mistakes and frustration while aligning hardware. Many users still have their orignal tools and use them every day. True Position Drill Guide is now sold worldwide and continues to grow, mainly from word of mouth recomendations from our happy customers.
